New Release from Invicta: Review of the Invicta Excursion (Ref # 18559)

Whoa!” That was my initial reaction when I came across this juggernaut of a timepiece recently. At 50mm, the 18559 is big but it is not the biggest from Invicta. I think 50mm is the perfect size for this watch – not too big, but big enough to leave an impression. Of course, the color scheme of the watch also plays a big part in its lasting impression index also. Invicta doesn't disappoint and carries a myriad of strap options and case colors.

The case is made from stainless steel, featuring black, gunmetal, or gold ion plating. On the 18559 are regal purple indexes on a unidirectional bezel. The bezel also carries rider tabs at the cardinal points for easy handling. The main crown is screw locked, which helps to maintain the 500 meters (50 ATM) water resistance. The 18559 comes with a grey silicone bracelet with a single folding clasp.
The dial on this model is white with purple elements for a rather intriguing contrast. The vaulted flange carries round hour markers, which frame the circular date scale indicated by a central arrow shaped hand. The chrono seconds hand is also centrally located and it features a counterbalance using the Reserve collection logo, which I have always been a fan of. The dial has 5 subdials, and the remarkable thing is that the dials use discs that rotate as opposed to using hands to indicate the individual readings. The counters at the 3, 6, and 9 positions indicate the true seconds, chrono hours, and chronograph minutes respectively. At 10 and 2 are the day of the week, and the month registers. The hour and minute hands have purple lume for a really nice touch. Covering the dial is Invicta's proprietary Flame Fusion crystal, which is made from mineral crystal coated with scratch resistant sapphire crystal.

Powering the Invicta Excursion is a Swiss made quartz movement caliber 5040.F.
